Connecting email folds your customer correspondence into the same inbox as WhatsApp, threaded against each project — so the whole conversation with a client lives in one place, anchored to the job rather than scattered across your mailbox.
Before you start
You need to be an owner in Mastro. Have your mailbox details ready.
Option A — Gmail / Google Workspace
- Go to Settings → Connections and find the Gmail card.
- Click Connect Gmail. Mastro sends you to Google's secure sign-in (OAuth) — you authorise there, no password is stored in Mastro.
- Approve the requested access. Back in Mastro, the card shows connected.
Option B — Any other mailbox (IMAP/SMTP)
- Go to Settings → Connections and find the Email (IMAP/SMTP) card.
- Enter your mailbox credentials and your provider's IMAP (incoming) and SMTP (outgoing) server settings — your email provider publishes these.
- Save. Mastro verifies the connection and the card shows connected.
What happens next
Incoming email is grouped into project-scoped conversations — one thread per client, anchored to them rather than to a supplier. New mail is polled regularly, so replies appear without you refreshing.
Replying
Reply from the inbox thread and pick which connected mailbox it sends from. The customer receives a normal email; you keep the whole exchange tied to the job.
Troubleshooting
- IMAP won't connect. Double-check the server addresses and that your provider allows IMAP/SMTP access (some require an app-specific password).
- Old emails aren't all there. Mastro threads correspondence going forward and backfills where it can — very old mail may not appear.
Next: connect your WhatsApp inbox so both channels land in one place.
