Deposits, Pay Now and getting paid

A signed quote is a promise; a paid deposit is a commitment. Mastro's payment setup is built around that difference — ask for the deposit at the moment of signing, make paying it effortless, and don't book crew until it's real.

From signed quote to payment: deposit request, card or bank rail, and the released schedule slot

Deposits: automatic above a threshold

In Settings → Payments, switch deposits on and set two numbers: the percentage to collect up front (say 30%) and the threshold — the quote total above which a deposit is requested automatically at signing. Small jobs stay friction-free; big jobs get commitment. Threshold at 0 means every job.

When a quote with a deposit is signed, the deposit invoice is created in bexio and sent to the client — no manual step between the signature and the ask.

How clients pay

Pick the default payment rail:

  • Stripe — the client pays by card; TWINT and Apple Pay appear automatically once enabled in your Stripe dashboard. Connect Stripe in Settings → Connections.
  • Bank transfer — the classic Swiss route, via the deposit invoice.

The default is just a default — override it per customer where it fits.

Pay Now: reward the on-the-spot decision

The Pay Now discount takes a percentage off the full total when the client pays the deposit by card on the spot — right at the close, standing in their bathroom. Card only; bank transfer keeps the full price. It turns "I'll sort it this week" into a done deal, and it's often the cheapest marketing you'll run.

There's also an optional premium — a percentage added to every quote total — which pairs with Pay Now so that clients who settle immediately earn the premium back, and everyone else funds the wait.

The deposit gates the schedule

On the board, a signed job that's waiting on its deposit shows Awaiting deposit instead of Ready to schedule — the start week isn't offered until the money arrives. Client-side, the deposit and final-invoice status are visible in their portal, so "did you get my payment?" answers itself.

The same signed job before and after the deposit arrives: awaiting deposit, then ready to schedule The card holds the start week until the money is in — then releases it.

Next: the moment all this triggers — send a quote and get it signed.

Frequently asked

Does every job need a deposit?

No — you set a threshold. Above it, a deposit is requested automatically when the quote is signed; below it, no deposit unless you ask for one. Set the threshold to 0 to request one on every job.

What payment methods can my clients use?

Card always works once Stripe is connected; TWINT and Apple Pay appear automatically when you've enabled them in your Stripe dashboard. Prefer invoices? Set bank transfer as the default rail instead — and override per customer either way.

Why does a signed job say 'Awaiting deposit' instead of 'Ready to schedule'?

Because you asked for a deposit on it. The card waits until the money arrives before offering a start week — so crew time is never booked against an unpaid commitment. It flips to Ready to schedule the moment the deposit is paid.
